Discussion Topic: RESTRUCTURING IS THE SOLUTION TO PROBLEMS FACING NIGERIA…ANYAOKU

Former Commonwealth’s Secretary General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, has said Nigeria will not reach its full potential except the governance system is restructured and true federalism is practiced in Nigeria.

He added that until the country was restructured many of the problems confronting it would persist.

The former diplomat said the continued under-performance of the country in various areas of endeavour validated his view.

He said this in Lagos during the 2017 edition of the Annual Sun Awards organised by The Sun Newspapers.

WHAT IS YOUR TAKE AS NIGERIANS REFUSE TO LEAVE SOUTH AFRICA?

Despite repeated xenophobic attacks, some Nigerians in South Africa have said they would not return home.

Giving unemployment, insecurity, kidnappings, poor infrastructure and epileptic power supply as reasons that will not let them return home, while they described returning home as going back to a “hardship zone.”

Despite the attacks, some others said it would be difficult to leave South Africa as they had nothing to fall back on in Nigeria.

There are over 800,000 Nigerians living in South Africa, according to the Nigerian Union South Africa, with many of them based in Johannesburg.
